I'm not sure where the summer went, but now that fall is officially here, and the leaves are falling, and the air is cool, it is time to start thinking about those indoor projects.  So today, I officially started a new project inside;  that of converting the front, piano, room into a bedroom.  Our boys sold their baby grand that I have enjoyed for the last ten years, but then life IS about change.  So, today I took off from work to get that room painted.  Last week we tore out the carpet and are going to replace it with the "car-siding" from a garage my dad tore off their house a few years back to make room for an addition.  Of course Manuel salvaged it from the burn pile, and we will see if Dad and Mom actually believe that is where our "new" floor came from when they see how beautiful it turns out!!  We will use a pair of antique French doors as the entry way, since I don't want to lose the lighting from the large picture window in that room.  I will post pictures when it is finished.

That is the beauty of re-using something old and re-inventing it into something new to be enjoyed for another lifetime.  It takes a little more effort but the pleasure you receive when it is finished and knowing that you saved a door or woodwork from being demolished or burned up, to me is very gratifying.  And then when you think about "going green" and saving a tree, that adds that much more to that feeling of accomplishment.  It also always makes great conversation when discussing where this came from or that came from.

We are just finishing up with a project in northwest Lincoln where a young couple have incorporated a lot of the old woodwork, doors, cabinets, etc. into their new restaurant called The Toast.  The menu items will be named after the places the reclaimed pieces came from.  I was quite intrigued by this idea!!

Our website guru is working on setting up a blog for me, so the newsletter will be changing to a blog.  Also coming in the future will be a kind of "Show & Tell" page to display pictures of some of the projects we have been a part of over the past couple of years.

We always enjoy getting to know those of you who stop by, but it is best to call first.   If you are looking for something in particular, give Manuel a call or contact us
